Description
A regulator must possess a set of functions which are unaffected by the different environments it will see during its lifetime. Examples of these functions include inhalation resistance, exhalation bubble distraction, noise and leak tightness to name just a few. Different environments such as cylinder pressure, diving attitude, depth, temperature, gas, type of water, the diver can have an effect on these functions.
When a new regulator is released on the market, it has to pass the EN 250 test. This test represents one single environment; the manufacturer may have managed to test perhaps another hundred such situations, which is good but not necessarily enough. Only after years and years of actual use by divers around the world will the manufacturer collect all the information which can guarantee a perfect performance under all circumstances. This of course, takes time…
This is the regulator of choice for any demanding divers that dive with Air, Trimix, 100% Oxygen and Nitrox and want a regulator that can do it out of the box. Outstanding performance and certified to 656′ (200m). this regulator never quits, giving it the honored place as the US Navy’s, US Coastguard’s and the NYPD’s preferred regulator. There is no other way to put it, the Xstream has earned its name. The Xstream features technology like non other. Taking advantage of a side purge, current-induced free flow is prevented while at the same time diverting bubbles that would otherwise obstruct the divers view. The regulator’s small size keeps it out of the way while its symmetry allows use from both the left and right side.
The Xstream Black second stage is a high-flow design providing 2,150 liters per minute flow of gas. The 2nd stage regulator uses an upstream servo-valve design with a safety valve opening pressure of 18 +/- 1 bar relief pressure. The second stage has a durable PVC housing with metal mechanism and rubber parts. The regulator has an automatic Venturi assist and inhalation control.
The first stage is a balanced rolling diaphragm ball valve design producing extreme leak tightness. Conventional designs are sensitive to war, misalignment, and manufacturing precision. A ruby ball valve always finds its correct place. Combined with the 2nd stage, the enormous capacity of the 1st stage makes the regulator meet the EN 250 breathing performance requirements even at as low as 16 bar cylinder pressure. This means that you gain an extra 34 bar of gas compared to most other regulators! The 1st stage construction requires less O-rings than any other regulator. The hose routing is developed to be optimized for a redundant system, using two-regulators. The HP ports are positioned to accommodate the use of gas monitoring computers e.g. first stage mounted HP sender/receive unit.
The black chromed 1st stage has a built-in Poseidon T.D.A, Thermo-Dynamic Anti-Freeze, which requires no maintenance. It is always there, doing the job. It is thermodynamically-protecting the parts which must not freeze. It is identified by the large slots in the cover, allowing the heat energy of the water to reach the spring. The Cold from the inside is consequently insulated from the spring, via an insulation barrier and insulating diaphragm. It is constructed without compromise to any detail to prevent cold reaching the sensitive area. Using Poseidon T.D.A, a regulator can free-flow air in fresh water of 32°F (0°C) for at least 10 minutes and afterwards still be completely unaffected. The 1st stage regulator is manufactured from black finished chrome plated brass. Regulator system comes complete with a 27.6″ (70 cm) LP hose. The Xstream Black comes with a neck strap, and owner’s manual.
