Description
The Viking dry diving suits are in world-wide use by leading hazmat, rescue and fire teams, military armed forces, law enforcement agencies as well as in the commercial diving industry.
The Viking VSN suit is made from a unique rubber based material. It has a core of black EPDM/natural rubber, which is covered with stretch Armatex Nylon on both sides. Technically it is a vulcanized rubber suit, but without the vulcanized “style” appearance. The suit is fitted with rotating inlet and exhaust valves and a medium-duty zip. Black rubber reinforcements are integrated on the suit and cover the lower front leg over the knee. For optimal comfort, the suit is fitted with rubber coated neoprene boots. Configuration options also include cargo pockets, a wide range of hoods and neck seals, ring systems for dry gloves and reflective markings.
VSN – Unique garment technology
A flexible and stretchy knitted Armatex Jersey Nylon covers both sides of a mid-ply of black NR/EPDM rubber. Material construction is in that sense a trilaminate material comprising qualities as outstanding flexibility, comfort and durability. It has an average material weight of 1100 g/m2. As such, it has the comfort of compressed neoprene combined with the durability of vulcanized rubber. The material is totally non-compressible which means no loss of buoyancy or insulation while diving.
Vulca – Seam Technology – Unique sealing of seams
Like on a regular vulcanized rubber suit, rubber tape is used to cover and seal the seams. The only difference is that on Viking VSN, the stitched seams are covered on the inside of the suit with tape of the same rubber blend as the mid-ply suit material. The inside seams are pre-treated with a special solution and then covered with rubber tape whereupon the suit is vulcanized in order to get the seams totally sealed and watertight.
Footwear
The standard boot option is rubber coated neoprene boots, sewn onto the legs of the suit. The boot has a fin-strap retainer on the heel to prevent fins from sliding off.
Viking VSN as Back Entry or Front Entry model
Viking VSN is available both in a regular back entry option with the zipper across the shoulders and in a front entry version with telescopic torso and zipper from left shoulder to right waist. Both versions come with a zipper protection flap as standard.
Zippers
Viking VSN is fitted with a medium-duty zipper due to the flexibility of the suit fabric. The zipper is gas and watertight
Reinforcements
Viking VSN has black rubber reinforcements with anti-slip surface covering the lower front leg and knee.
Suspenders
Elastic and removable braces can be attached to the inside of the suit for ease of wear and crutch adjustment.
Valves
The inlet valve is 360° swiveling and positioned centrally on the chest. The VSN is equipped with the Viking X2 outlet valve, placed on the upper left arm. Both valves can be positioned according to custom demand.
Hood and neckseal
The Viking VSN offers a lot of options when it comes to hood and neck seal configurations. Both neoprene and latex hoods can be permanently attached/glued to the suit. A configuration with neck seal only option is also possible (neoprene and latex neck seals as well as neoprene warm neck collar available). Hood option will then be to use a separate neoprene hood.
Cuff rings
Cuff rings can be attached to the suit either permanently or, if preferred, as detachable directly on the latex cuff. When permanently attached, rings are glued to the sleeves. Cuff rings make it possible to use dry gloves. With cuff rings, fast and easy exchange of cuffs is enabled. Cuff ring options include the Viking rubber sleeve ring as well as the Viking Bayonet Ring System.
Cuffs
Latex cuffs are either attached by mounting them on the inside of the cuff rings or permanently glued to the sleeves of the suit.
